Directors

U9 - General Information

Player eligibility:

• For the 2026-27 season: birth years 2018-2019

Team format:

• Mixed (male & female)
• Team size is dependent on number of players registered, but we endeavor to roster approx. 12 players per U9 team.

Equipment required:

• CSA approved helmet and face mask
• Throat protector
• Shoulder Pads
• Elbow Pads
• Hockey pants/girdle
• Hockey gloves
• Athletic support
• Shin Pads
• Hockey socks (for practices and games)
• Practice jersey
• Skates
• Hockey stick

Game apparel:

• Game jerseys will be provided by Battle River MHA
• Name bars for jerseys are at the choice of each team.
  • If player name bars are to be placed on jerseys, they must be purchased and applied by a board-approved vendor at the cost of parents.
  • Ordering of player name bars will be organized by your team manager at the start of the season.
• Game socks
  • Available for purchase from Battle River MHA
  • 1 pair dark (home) + 1 pair light (away)

Practices:

• 2 x 1 hr practices per week, starting in October and ending in March
• Schedule will be announced closer to the start of the season

Games:

• U9 teams participate in the Battle River Hockey League and play approximately 10 league games throughout the season.
• All U9 teams will participate in and help organize Battle River MHA's U9 Home Tournament.
• Teams may also choose to enter 1 away tournament.
